cheftap_export folders supported

Convert your ChefTap recipes

ChefTap drops a folder of plain-text recipes onto your phone. Zip it up and we'll turn every recipe into PDF, JSON, CSV, Markdown, or .cook.

100% free. Open-source parsing. No account required.

What we support

The cheftap_export folder, zipped — or a single .txt recipe.

.zip Recommended

The full cheftap_export folder zipped up. We unpack it and parse every recipe inside.

.txt Supported

A single ChefTap recipe text file works too — useful if you only want one recipe converted.

How to export from ChefTap

1

Open ChefTap

Launch the app on whichever phone holds your collection.

2

Open settings

Tap the menu and choose Settings, then look for an Export or Backup option.

3

Run the export

ChefTap writes a cheftap_export/ folder to your device storage, with one .txt per recipe. On Android the folder appears in your Downloads or app-specific storage; on iOS it lands in Files.

4

Zip and upload

Compress the cheftap_export folder into a .zip, transfer it to your computer, and drag it into the upload area above.

Why convert ChefTap recipes?

ChefTap's plain-text export is friendly to read but useless as a backup if you switch apps — no other recipe manager imports a folder of .txt files natively.

That's the gap this page closes. We parse the conventional section layout back into structured fields, so the output works cleanly in any other recipe tool, prints to a recipe card, or drops into a spreadsheet.

Convert to JSON for re-import into another app, PDF for printing, Markdown for a personal cookbook, or .cook for any CookLang-compatible tool.
