Recipes folder zips supported

Convert Nextcloud Cookbook recipes

Cookbook stores every recipe as a folder with recipe.json in Schema.org JSON-LD. Zip your Recipes folder and we'll emit PDF, JSON-LD, CSV, Markdown, or .cook — near-losslessly.

100% free. Open-source parsing. No account required.

What's inside the export

Cookbook's "export" is just the file structure on disk — no proprietary wrapping.

<recipe>/recipe.json Parsed

Schema.org JSON-LD per recipe — title, ingredients, instructions, times, yield, keywords, nutrition, and source URL all stored in the standard format.

full.jpg + thumb.jpg Preserved

Each recipe folder holds a full-size image and a thumbnail. We attach the full image to the recipe in PDF and HTML outputs.

How to export from Nextcloud Cookbook

1

Find your Recipes folder

In Nextcloud, open the Files app. By default, Cookbook stores recipes in a top-level Recipes/ folder. If yours is somewhere else, the path is shown in Cookbook → Settings → Recipe folder.

2

Right-click → Download

Right-click the Recipes folder and choose Download. Nextcloud zips the entire folder server-side and streams it back as a single .zip — no client-side bundling required.

3

Confirm the structure

Inside the zip you should see one subfolder per recipe, each with recipe.json plus image files. That's the shape we expect — no further preparation needed.

4

Upload the zip here

Drop the .zip into the upload area above and pick the output format you want — PDF, JSON-LD, CSV, Markdown, or .cook.

Why convert Nextcloud Cookbook?

Self-hosting Nextcloud buys you ownership but not portability. If your Nextcloud server fails after an upgrade, if you decide to stop running it, or if you just want a printable copy of your collection — the Cookbook UI alone won't help.

The Recipes folder itself is the durable snapshot. Because Cookbook stores recipes as plain Schema.org JSON-LD (not in a database), zipping that folder gives you the cleanest possible export of any self-hosted recipe app — and our conversion is correspondingly close to lossless.

Convert to JSON-LD for re-import into Mealie or Tandoor, PDF for printing, Markdown for a personal cookbook, or .cook for any CookLang-compatible tool. Your collection, your choice of format.
