How to Export from CopyMeThat

Download your recipe collection before canceling your subscription.

1

Log into CopyMeThat

Go to copymethat.com and sign in to your account.

  • Visit copymethat.com in your browser
  • Click "Log In" and enter your credentials
  • You can use the website or mobile app
Tip: Use a desktop browser for the easiest export experience.
2

Tap "More"

Look for the "More" option in the menu or navigation.

  • On mobile: Tap the menu icon, then "More"
  • On desktop: Look for "More" in the top navigation or sidebar
  • This is where you'll find export and account options
3

Select "Download (export) recipes"

Click or tap on the download/export option to start the export process.

This will open the export dialog where you can choose what to export and in what format.

4

Choose "All recipes"

Select the option to export all your recipes to get your complete collection.

You can also choose specific folders or categories if you only want a subset of recipes.

Tip: We recommend exporting everything to have a complete backup.
5

Select HTML as the file format

Choose <strong>HTML</strong> as the export format for the best results.

  • HTML format preserves recipe formatting and images
  • The file will download as a .zip containing HTML files
  • This is the recommended format for MoveMyRecipes
Tip: HTML exports include images and formatting. Text exports are also supported but won't include photos.
6

Upload to MoveMyRecipes

Upload your CopyMeThat export file (the .zip or .html file) above and we'll convert it to PDF, JSON, CSV, or any other format.

Tip: We support both HTML exports (with images) and text file exports from CopyMeThat.

Export before you cancel

Make sure to download your recipes while your subscription is still active. Once you cancel, you may lose access to the export feature. Keep the export file safe - you can convert it anytime.

The problem with cloud-only recipes

CopyMeThat makes it easy to save recipes from the web. But what happens to those recipes when the service changes—or disappears?

Subscription = ransom

Stop paying and lose access to recipes you collected yourself. That's not ownership—that's rental. Export and truly own your collection.

Cloud services vanish

Remember Yummly? Services shut down, get acquired, or pivot. Your recipe collection shouldn't depend on a company's business decisions.

No internet, no recipes

Camping trip? Spotty WiFi? Cloud recipes need connectivity. Local files work anywhere, anytime, offline.

Your data, your control

PDF, JSON, Markdown—formats that will work in 50 years. No account needed, no terms of service, just your recipes.

Tired of app lock-in?

Your recipes are yours. You shouldn't need a subscription to access them.

Remember Yummly?

When Yummly shut down their recipe box feature, thousands of users lost access to their carefully curated collections overnight. No export option. No migration path. Years of saved recipes, gone. Don't let this happen to you.

Break free from subscriptions

Stop paying monthly fees just to view recipes you created. Export once, own forever.

Escape proprietary formats

Proprietary file formats keep you trapped. Convert to open standards you control.

Future-proof your collection

Apps shut down. Companies pivot. Your recipes in open formats last forever.
